No Interest In Impeachment

Mom just asked me why I wasn’t watching the impeachment of CJ Corona. Answer: “What for? Nothing but a ploy to make us believe that it will be an impartial practice. Evidence doesn’t matter. All they need is numbers in Senate to impeach. Don’t you think Noynoy thought of that before proceeding? No Senate and CONgress will ever render a just decision if they still want they pork barrel released by DBM.”

Kiko just said that the impeachment proceedings will benefit the Filipino people. What BS! In just a month we have 4 gas and diesel price hike. Don’t you think doing something about that will benefit more Filipinos?

Wang-wang Anyone?

Seems to me that it is business as usual for those who have te luxury of paying off police escorts to stop traffic for them. Not to be rebutted again that poor old Noynoy has better things to do than enforce this law against illegal use of sirens, but this is one of his famous lines

walang wang-wang

during his inagural speech. So what happen to this campaign? Where are they now? LTO and PNP Highway Patrol Group where are you now, now that media is not there to cover your actions?

What’s New For Istik Online This 2011

First of all for those who had visited this site before you might noticed that there are some posts missing. I took the down the website late last year and unfortunately I was not able to save or export the blog and I only had the old posts and some that I also posted on another site.

Now that I got the website up again I will be posting stuff I like. Stuff like those that I stumbled upon while browsing the Web and stuff that I want to share. What are these? Videos on Youtube, software bargains and desktop wallpapers. The difference would be that most of the posts that you will see here will be more on the positive all though occassionally there might be some negative ones.

So keep coming back to this website for the latest update for you never know what I might be sharing.

Human Destroying Wildlife

From Genesis 2:15 “And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.”

I was watching a documentary of National Geographic Channel featuring the polar bears and how there numbers are dwindling. How this species are slowly being eliminated due to global warming, making the polar ice melt at a very disturbing pace. They can’t hunt their meal which are the seals because the ice that they used to walk on to hunt are now disappearing making movement for the polar bears very difficult. The result of this is that they weigh less than what is normal making it difficult for them to conceive cubs and what is worse a lot of them die due to hunger. Some of them are now hunting for food other than the seals and sometimes those who do ends up dead after being shot for encroaching on human settlements. I can’t blame them for encroaching for these animals are hungry and they also have young ones to feed. It is not far from human behavior that we would go to great extent so as not to see our children die of hunger.

They are the ones suffering for what humans are doing. We, the human race, are the ones to blame for what is happening to the world now. These species who are living with us on this planet are not guilty of any wrongdoing whatsoever that resulted to this global warming that the Earth is experiencing now. Whatever backlash MAN receives from these wrongdoing, MAN rightly deserves them.

NPE: No Permanent Enemies

The photo on the left, taken from the Philippine Daily Inquirer website, illustrates the saying that in politics there are no permanent enemies only permanent interest.

Why do I say so? Well look closely at the photo. From left-right: Convicted plunderer former President Joseph “Erap” Ejercito Estrada Jr., former Vice-President Teofisto Guigona, former President Corazon Aquino and Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay.

If you must know, Guigona was the one who initiated the impeachment of Erap. Cory was one of the leaders of Edsa Dos asking for Erap to step down which he did. Now look at them aren’t they all look cozy with each others company?

These kind of people are the ones making the Filipinos loose faith in the country’s future. What kind of leaders has this country have left? Where in the world can you find a convicted but recently pardoned plunderer out partying and showing no remorse for his action. Before he was pardoned he was as meek as a lamb but now he is out, he is back to being a bully. Poor Philippines for having a stupid sitting President. In what she sees as one way of holding on to power, the President quickly pardoned her predecessor, who was convicted of plunder that took six years to prosecute, in the guise of national healing.

If she would step down as the opposition are calling for her resignation, who would lead this impoverish country? Those bozos on the picture? If you think this country is in deep trouble now, think again.

We Should Have Gone to Med School

These was the sentiments shared by my college buddies who are now proud parents during our last monthly meet at Jack’s Loft in Eastwood City. I had no idea that going for your child’s check-up would cost around 500 pesos exclusive of vaccination or any prescription that may come out of it. Imagine if each doctor would at least have 10 patients a day that would be 5,000 pesos and that covers only the consultation fees.

So I can’t imagine why are best doctors are trying their luck in the US or UK as nurses, when they can earn as much as 5,000 pesos a day. They are complaining that the pay in the Philippines is not that good compared with first world countries. Now I wonder how they answered the question when these doctors were still kids when asked why they wanted to be a doctor. Was their answer even remotely related to the financial rewards one gets for being a doctor? Or was it they wanted to be doctors to help cure the sick?

Maybe along the way helping cure the sick became second to earning mucho dinero for these doctors.

I saw on one TV show doctors who have to walk several kilometers just to reach the indigenous tribes of the Philippines who they know can’t pay them much and still care for them. These people can only pay them with some of their harvest like fruits and vegetables and yet these doctors would go to these far-flung areas just to fulfill their oath.

College Buddies

Here I am with some of my college buddies on a night out in the city. It has been years since we last saw each other and hang out which we usually did during those times.

Now older, we don’t party like the good old days but it has become sort of a way for us to relax and reminisce. It is also a way for us to be up-to-date on what is happening with each others careers and family life, though on that last part I can’t contribute any being still single.

I am trying to make these get-togethers bigger by asking everyone in the group to also inform our other college buddies of these events. The bigger the better as the saying goes, and so that would be my goal to make these events as big as it could be.

Boracay Vacation

I was going over files when I chance upon old pictures of my last vacation that I had way back 2001, and I haven’t had a vacation since then. I got lots of work to do and though I am not complaining since my work provides for my family’s needs, sometimes I would plan to go for a vacation but due to my work commitments I had to put it off for later.

What’s ironic about this is that I wasn’t earning that much when I had my last vacation, the money I spent came from payments for web design projects and not from my meager salary.

If your asking who among those three guys is me, well I am the guy in the middle. Now that I am looking at this photo, I think it’s time for me to go back to the gym and put on some weight. The two other guys in the photo are my former officemates in one of the biggest telecommunications company here.

It is at least 6 months before summer here in the Philippines, I have time to get fit and save up for another vacation. It is way past due.

Al Gore Wins! The Nobel Peace Prize

The 2007 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to both Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Albert Arnold (Al) Gore Jr. for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change as stated in Nobelprize.org website.

Now I hope this award increases the world’s awareness that this problem is real and not something that would go away. It is something moral and spiritual issue and not just political as some quarters would say now that a former United States Vice President was given this award. This might also paved the way for the world to focus more attention on what is happening with our environment and take actions to avert further damage to the ozone layer.

The United States of America being one, if not the only, super power in the world should thus take the lead in promoting environment awareness to its citizens. What is startling is that instead of them leading the way to conservation they are steering clear of the Kyoto Agreement. The reason they gave to the world is that each nation should determine its own way of lessening carbon emission. This is bull!

I hope the American people realized that they now have a way to help the environment by pressing Al Gore to run for President and if Hillary Clinton really loves her country she would step aside and do the ultimate sacrifice of her political career. If Al Gore becomes the President of the United States of America there is hope that America would change its position about climate change and be the leader nation that it should be.
